Dr. Jui-Lien Huang is both the Chairperson of AbProtix, Inc. and its subsidiary company, AP Biosciences, Inc. She founded AP Biosciences in Taiwan in 2013 to develop novel technology platforms for the discovery of functional and therapeutic antibodies. Dr. Huang’s contribution to the biotechnology industry is recognized both in the United States and Asia. She started her industry career in 1983 working at Cooper Laboratory in Palo Alto and then at Vical, Inc. in San Diego, CA. In 1990, she co-founded Canji, Inc., a gene therapy company in San Diego and was the director, vice president, and Chief Operating Officer until 1996, when the company was acquired by Schering-Plough. From 2003 to 2006, She was the president and CEO of the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), a non-profit R&D institute in Taiwan focusing on drug development as well as promoting the biotechnology industry for the Taiwanese government. Aside from AP Biosciences, Dr. Huang also brought Taivex, Inc. to Taiwan in 2010 and served as the Chairperson and CEO of the company until 2012. Dr. Huang has a background in Biology, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Biology from National Taiwan Normal University and receiving her PhD in Microbiology from the Hershey Medical Center at the Pennsylvania State University. She also received an Executive MBA training from the Business School of Stanford University in 1992. Prior to her industry career, she was a faculty member at the Department of Microbiology at the University of Texas’s medical branch in Galveston for 7 years.
