Dr. Hong-Ren Wang is currently Senior Director of Formulation at Proteostasis Therapeutics. Previously, he served as Director of Formulation Science at Microchips Biotech where he led novel formulation design for microchips-based drug delivery device through combination of device and PK modeling. Prior to Microchips Biotech, he served as Director of Materials Discovery and Characterization at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. At Vertex, he played important roles in preclinical compound selection and formulation development leading to first-in-human (FIH) clinical trials as well as in the development and commercialization of Incivek, Kalydeco, and Orkambi. Before joining industry, Dr. Wang was a lecturer at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received his PhD. He received his MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University.
